The Sewing begins

Today, we picked up the tension band from D & K covers which will enable us to put the frame up for measuring on Sunday, weather permitting, and if we finish both the poles and the roof wheel… If we do, we’ll be a week ahead of schedule!

Dee and Kay will measure the frame and then sew the red canvas cover for us ready for a fitting at our Midsummer Gathering on Saturday 23rd June.  If we don’t quite make it on time, they will come to measure on 23rd.  Either way, the red tent is soon to be red!

Here Dee is just finishing the tension band in their lovely sewing workshop in Ermington at the Old Mill.  Even this simple part of the tent is beautiful as well as functional.

Here it is nicely rolled and ready to go.

Dee and Kay have been patient with us through all our struggles to find the right shape of tent and very helpful about technical detail and aesthetics.  They have made an alachigh cover before, so we feel safe in their hands!

Dee rolled out the red carpet, sorry canvas, for us to see and demonstrated how it will be cut to pattern ready for sewing.  Excitement is growing here…..
